Fly from Delhi to Paro by Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines. Take a left-hand window seat for stunning views of the Himalayan range. The descent into Bhutan, surrounded by forested hills, is awe-inspiring. Take an exciting hike to the famous Takshang Monastery, also known as the "Tiger’s Nest." This sacred site, perched high on a granite cliff 900 meters above the valley, is where Guru Rimpoche is believed to have meditated in the 17th century. The trail winds through pine forests and is lined with prayer flags. After a visit to the monastery, enjoy lunch at the Takshang Cafeteria. In the afternoon, visit Taa Dzong, Bhutan’s national museum, and Rimpong Dzong. Later, drive to Thimphu for an evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass (alt. 3,050 m). If the weather is clear, you'll be treated to a stunning view of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Continue to Punakha and stop at Missina to visit Chimmi Lhakhang, a fertility monastery. After lunch, visit the Punakha Dzong, a historic fortress nestled between two rivers. Then explore the new Khuru Township. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast and morning sightseeing in Punakha: visit Punakha Dzong, Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten, and Chhimi Lhakhang. Then, head back to Thimphu, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant.

After breakfast, drive to Phuentsholing, stopping en route to visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in Bhutan. Continue on the scenic drive, stopping at Kharbandi Gompa for a view of Phuentsholing and the nearby Indian town of Jaigaon. Dinner and overnight in Phuentsholing.
After breakfast, drive to Kalimpong (110 km, 4 hours). The journey takes you through plains and forests, with glimpses of wildlife, farms, and tea gardens. Once in Kalimpong, check into your hotel and enjoy a local sightseeing tour, visiting Durpin Monastery, a flower nursery, and the local bazaar. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, drive to Rumtek Monastery, a major center for Tibetan religious studies. Continue on to Darjeeling, where you’ll enjoy a local sightseeing tour, including the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Zoological Park, Panda Breeding Center, and the Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center. Overnight at the hotel.
Start early with a trip to Tiger Hill (11 km) for a sunrise view over Mt. Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest peak. En route, stop at Yigacholing Ghoom Monastery. Later, visit Happy Valley Tea Estate and enjoy a ride on the famous Toy Train, which has recently earned a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive downhill, following the Toy Train route, to Bagdogra Airport for your flight back to Delhi.
